Retro Game Walkthroughs for The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (Nintendo 64)
Submitted By: Venomous Albino
Hi. Dark Mark here! I think you'll all agree that Ocarina of
Time was one of the best games ever devised by Shigeru Miyamoto,
Nintendo or anyone else for that matter... but it's tricky;
especially those hard-as-nails bosses. So I'm here to take you
through each Boss fight. But that's not all! I'll also reveal
the location of every Piece of Heart, along with the locations
of every item. Enjoy!

BOSS WALTHROUGH
The bosses in Ocarina of Time are some of the biggest ever seen,
and also some of the hardest. Below is a guide on how to
vanquish each one.

- Parasitic Armoured Arachnid: Queen Gohma -
Queen Gohma's weakness is her single eye. You need to hit this
eye with the catapult, which will stun Gohma and allow you to
hack away at her with your sword until she gets up again. Repeat
this process until Gohma dies. Occasionally, she will climb onto
the ceiling and drop Gohma Larvae down onto the ground. If you
can get to them before they hatch, a single swipe of your sword
will see them off.

- Infernal Dinosaur: King Dodongo -
When King Dodongo rolls around the pool of lava, stay close to
the edge of the pool to avoid him, then follow him. Once he has
stopped and turned to face you, wait for him to open his mouth
before chucking a bomb in there. Then, while he is stunned, keep
striking him with your sword until he gets back up. Repeat this
process until King Dodongo rolls into the lava and dies.

- Bigocto -
The central platform in this room spins and is lined with
spikes, so stay away from it. When Bigocto starts chasing you,
run away. Eventually, you will outrun him and end up behind him.
Now, lock onto him and continue running, then keep throwing the
boomerang at him until it hits and stuns him. While he's
stunned, slash away with your sword until he gets up and starts
chasing you again. Repeat this process until Bigocto dies.
(Note: Bigocto will occasionally change direction suddenly, so
watch out)

- Bio-Electric Anemone: Barinade -
Use the boomerang to sever Barinade's tentacles from the
ceiling. Now, keep moving in order to avoid the electrical
attacks and lock onto the circular base of the anemone. If the
blue globes surrounding Barinade start to spin, hit his body to
stop them moving then use the boomerang to shatter the globes.
Once all of the globes have been destroyed, hit the base of
Barinade with the boomerang before running in and hacking away
at Barinade with the sword. Make sure you're well clear when he
fires off his energy beams, then lock onto Barinade and repeat
the process until Barinade dies. (Note: there are numerous pots
around the edge of this room containing health pick-ups)

- Evil Spirit from Beyond: Phantom Ganon -
Phantom Ganon leaps through the many paintings on the walls of
this room. When he leaps into one painting and runs off, at the
same time he will be appearing from another painting so keep
your eyes open. Take your bow and hit Phantom Ganon before he
has a chance to fire electricity bolts at you, which sends him
fleeing back into one of the paintings. If he manages to fire
the electricity bolts, keep to the edge of the room and avoid
them as best you can. Once you've hit Phantom Ganon enough
times, he stops moving around the paintings and starts flying
around the room, while shooting fireballs at you. Use your sword
(or alternatively, an empty bottle) to hit these fireballs back
at him. Keep hitting the fireball back until it hits and stuns
him; sending him to the floor, then dash in and slash away with
the sword. Repeat this process until Phantom Ganon dies (er,
again).

- Subterranean Lava Dragon: Volvagia -
Volvagia pops up out of different holes in the circular platform
and rears its' head. Stand in the centre of his platform (so
that you will always remain close to anywhere that Volvagia
might pop up) then hit the dragon with the hammer when it pops
up. When its' head drops to the ground, hit it again with the
hammer, and run away to avoid the flames. Keep doing this and
eventually the dragon will come out of the holes and proceeds to
chase you around the platform. It will eventually return to the
holes, at which point you should repeat the same process as
before; waiting for Volvagia to pop out then hit it with the
hammer. When Volvagia flies up to the ceiling, it will start
throwing rocks down at you. Avoid these by clinging to the edge
of the platform. Repeat the above process until Volvagia dies.

- Dark Link -
Dark Link is an absolute nightmare to fight against, as he
responds to your attacks almost instantaneously. The only way to
defeat Dark Link is to counter his attacks then attack him when
his guard his down. Each time you successfully hit him, Dark
Link will drop through the floor and reappear right behind you
so be ready for this. (Note: never do a jump attack on Dark Link
as he will simply jump above it)

- Giant Aquatic Amoeba: Morpha -
The water resting within the pool of this room is actually
Morpha, who will attack you by sending out tendrils of its' body
which, if they make contact with you, pull you into the air and
crush you, before throwing you against the walls. Avoid these
tendrils, and try to spot the nucleus. The nucleus makes these
tendrils by spinning around, and when it spins this is the best
time to attack it. Lock onto the nucleus and pull it towards you
using the longshot, before attacking it with your sword. (Note:
when moving around, beware of the spiked walls)

- Dead Hand -
This long-necked creature's only vulnerability is its' head. Let
one of the hands grab you, then rotate the control stick until
you escape. Then, lock onto Dead Hand and attack its' head with
your sword when it lowers it. Repeat this process until Dead
Hand bites the dust.

- Phantom Shaodw Beast: Bongo Bongo -
Throughout this fight, you'll need to have the Lens of Truth
equipped. Bongo Bongo's hands fly towards you and attack by
either smacking you (Trevor Morgan style) or throwing you off
the edge of the huge bongo drum (if he does this, quickly climb
back onto the drum). You need to shoot both of Bongo Bongo's
hands with the bow or the longshot (the bow is far easier), then
shoot the big red eye at the centre of his body before hacking
away at it with your sword. Repeat this process until Bongo
Bongo dies.

- Sorceress Sisters: Twinrova -
Lock onto whichever sister is firing at you, using the mirror
shield to block her attacks... then lock off and reflect the
energy from the attacks at the other sister. If an attack hits
the platform you're standing on, do not go near the affected
area until it returns to normal. Once you've hit the sisters
four times, they will merge and come at you with a more powerful
attack. You'll need to absorb three hits of one type of attack
(so, three of fire or three of ice) at which point the energy is
discharged from the mirror shield as a deadly energy beam, which
you need to aim at the sisters using the control stick. You must
not try to absorb different types of attack before discharging
the energy. If you absorb a fire attack, you must absorb two
more fire attacks then discharge the energy at the sisters
before you can absorb ice attacks... and vice versa. Once you've
hit the combined sisters, they drop to the floor, so rush in and
keep attacking them with your sword until they take off again.
Repeat the process of absorbing attacks and discharging them
until Twinrova die.

- Ganondorf -
Before starting this fight, equip the bow and arm it with the
light arrows. Straight away, rush to a corner of the room. The
corner blocks on the floor are stationary, but the other blocks
surrounding the central platform will drop of Ganondorf hits the
central platform with his fist. Defend yourself against
Ganondorf's fireballs in the same way as you did with Phantom
Ganon, until the fireball hits Ganondorf, at which point you
will need to fire a light arrow at him which sends him falling
onto the central platform. Use the longshot or hover boots to
get over to the platform, and hack away at Ganondorf with your
sword... but be prepared to rush back to a corner of the room
when he gets back up again, once again using the hover boots to
make your way across the gap. Eventually, Ganondorf will send
out six fireballs at a time, which all home in on you. You can
deflect these by performing a spin attack with your sword, but
you'll need to time this almost perfectly or risk taking some
serious damage. Alternatively, fire a light arrow at Ganondorf
as he is casting the spell, which sends him onto the platform,
allowing you to rush over and attack him again. Ganondorf will
alternate between the less and more powerful spells, so deal
with these as required and repeat the process until Ganondorf is
defeated.

- Ganon -
For this fight, you'll need to equip the megaton hammer. Avoid
Ganon's attacks and try to get behind him and strike his tail
with the hammer repeatedly until he falls over and the flames
surroundng you vanish. At the point, rush over to Zelda and get
your sword back. Ganon will now move a lot faster, making it
increasingly difficult to get behind him. Get around this by
firing a light arrow at Ganon, then rushing behind him while he
is stunned and hack away at his tail with your sword. Once you
have hit Ganon enough times, Zelda will freeze him in place,
allowing you to take once last stab at him with your sword.
Zelda then summons the power of the Sages, who banish Ganon
forever.
